In your acceptance letter, you will receive a link to begin your onboarding process. Once you have signed up through that link, you will start to receive communications about what being a student at Blackhawk means. This will include information on completing your Advising, Registration, and Onboarding (ARO) process.

During the ARO, you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to be a successful student, meet your academic advisor, create an academic plan, and register for classes. Additional information regarding financial aid, payment plans, books, tools, and supplies will be included.

• Take the Next-Generation ACCUPLACER exam; The Next-Generation ACCUPLACER test is FREE and no appointment is needed to do the exam. Students can retest one time for $10. Please bring a valid student ID.
• Or submit an official copy of your ACT or SAT scores

You may receive college credit toward a degree or diploma for attending a different college or university, having professional experience, or taking college courses in high school. It’s also possible to be granted credit for career-related knowledge and skills you’ve already mastered. Learn more by visiting the Credit for Prior Learning page.

Paying your tuition and additional fees can happen at any time during the registration process; however, many new students pay after they have registered for classes. If you need financial assistance, our Paying for College page can provide you more information about financial aid, payment plans, scholarships, and other types of awards. Please note: you will not be able to attend class if you have not paid your tuition or set up a payment plan.

Financial aid helps students and their families fund their education through grants, loans, scholarships, and the federal work-study program. The first step is often to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. Rest assured that we are here to help you through each step of the process! As you progress toward the beginning of your first semester in your program, you will complete your Advising, Registration, and Onboarding, set up payment for your tuition and fees, and prepare for the start of for semester of classes.
