Career Exploration: Not sure what college major to pursue? Have you forgotten what you really wanted out of life as you focused on earning an income, caring for loved ones, or handling life’s many ups and downs? Pursuing an education is one of the biggest, and sometimes scariest, decisions you can make. Completing a Career Exploration Workshop is a great step to make sure you are on the right path toward building a career around your skills and passions. Workshops are offered weekly and are free of charge.

Attend an Advising, Registration, and Onboarding (ARO) session

We will send you a link to your personal and Blackhawk email allowing you to sign up for an ARO session. This ARO session will include meeting your advisor, planning and creating an academic plan, and registering for classes. Additional information regarding financial aid, payment plans, books, tools, and supplies will be discussed.

Prepare for the upcoming semester during Smart Start Day

Held the Saturday before the fall and spring semesters begin, Smart Start Day helps you get ready for the upcoming semester:

  • Receive Blackboard assistance
  • Review and update your class schedule
  • Complete testing (must sign-up in advance)
  • Receive financial aid assistance
  • Learn about campus resources
  • Get your books and student ID
  • Tour campus

Petition for entry into a Health Sciences program

The following programs require students to petition for entry: Dental Hygienist, Diagnostic Medical Sonography & Vascular Technology (DMS/VT), Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), Radiography, and Surgical Technology. In order to be eligible to petition the program for entry, you must apply to the college, meet all program-specific eligibility requirements, and attend a Health Sciences petition meeting specific to the program you plan to petition.

Receive your Blackhawk Student ID

Identification cards are available to all Blackhawk students. The cards include the Blackhawk logo and address and student picture, name, and nine-digit identification number. The card also includes a barcode that allows you to access resources at the Blackhawk Library and the Learning Resource Center in Monroe.

You can have your picture taken and card issued any time after you have registered for a course. Cards are issued at the Registration and Records Office on Central Campus, Monroe Campus Learning Resource Center, or at our Advanced Manufacturing Training Center. In order for a Blackhawk student ID to be issued, you must present a valid photo ID and class schedule.
